Macy's Culinary Council Chef Todd English definitely knows how to throw a party! In honor of his fourth cookbook; Cooking in English: The ABCs of great flavor at home, Todd invited some of today's top foodies to try some of the mouth-watering recipes in the comfort of Olives, his famed restaurant at the W Hotel.
The tasty bites – all of which can be found in his new cookbook - included quail eggs with caviar, buttered lobster rolls that melted in your mouth, deviled eggs with lobster, truffle flatbread pizza, mini Cuban reuben sammys with slow-roasted pork and fried oyster bites on a bed of mashed potatoes. Obviously, in light of all these savory delicacies, I had to ask Todd how he manages to stay so fit. When I did, he just smiled and replied, "I just wear dark colors". Note to self: invest in black.
After thanking the crowd for coming, Todd signed copies of his new book for guests. No stranger to helping those in need (Todd traveled with the Macy’s Culinary Council Food Truck this summer in support of Feeding America ®) a portion of the proceeds from his new cookbook will benefit Men Against Breast Cancer ™ in remembrance of his sister, Wendy.
A truly magical evening, the event really drove home what I’ve always believed is perhaps the most important part of cooking: gathering family, friends and the ones you love. All I have to say is, my compliments to the chef.
