When the folks at Macy’s asked me to be a part of their Week of Wonderful campaign, I said, “Sure, I’d love to! Ummmm … what’s Week of Wonderful?”

Turns out it’s 7 days completely and utterly devoted to shopping for yourself. (That’s a sentiment I can get behind!) You know – purchasing the things you really wanted but didn’t actually receive during the holidays.  Maybe Grandma bought you a Christmas sweater with 3-dimensional snowmen when you were hoping for a cashmere scarf. So, return it! (What Grandma doesn’t know won’t hurt her. Just be sure to send her a thank you note!)

Shooting the commercial was one of the more exciting/terrifying things I’ve done in about a decade. I haven’t sung professionally in more than 20 years – and even then it was as a singing waiter on a dinner cruise ship in Boston! So, when I was in the recording booth and the sound engineer said, “You come in after two measures on the downbeat,” I had absolutely NO idea what he was talking about. Sure, I’m laughing about it now, but at the time I wanted to sneak out of the building when no one was looking!

And then there was the dancing. Luckily the director, Adam Shankman, is the nicest guy on the planet. At one point, we were shooting and he yelled, “Clinton, that was great. But you’re supposed to lip sync!” (I was too busy counting, 5…6…7…8 in my head to remember to sing along with the song I had pre-recorded. Spaz.)

In the end, I’m thrilled with the way it all turned out. And I think the Week of Wonderful sounds like a pretty wonderful idea! I hope you do too. You’ve probably been thinking about everyone else in your life for the past month. Maybe it’s time to pamper yourself a little. Check out the new assortment of items in-store and online. I, for one, have my eye on a velvet jacket that’s got New Year’s Eve written all over it. Not literally. That would be weird.

Stay fabulous,

Clinton

I mean, Stay “Wonderful”!
