You might not have heard designer Doo-Ri Chung's name before. Despite being able count First Lady Michelle Obama as a fan and client, she still considers herself a “very small, very young” niche designer without a ton of name recognition. But that should change come February 15, when her capsule collection for Macy’s Impulse hits 185 stores and goes up online. She adds her name to Macy's already star-studded list of collaborators – Karl Lagerfeld and Giambattista Valli among them. For a peek behind the scenes of her new collection, check out the video!

Flutes of bubbly and trays of bite-sized hors d’oeuvres circulated through the crowds as diehard fashionistas from all over the country – as far away as LA! – flooded into Macy’s Impulse Department Wednesday evening to see Giambattista Valli. It was a once-in-a-lifetime chance for all to witness the famed Paris-based designer descend upon the Herald Square store flanked by his signature “Valli Girls”, to celebrate the launch of his new collection.

Last week, I sat down with Macy’s Fashion Director Nicole Fischelis as she ever-so-casually picked up the phone for a brief chat with Giambattista Valli -- modern genius in the art of couture and highly sought-after designer among the red carpet crowd. That’s right, the two go way back. Or, as the super-chic Fischelis put it, “Back to his Ungaro days” politely offering me a bite of her morning pastry...
