You might not have heard designer Doo-Ri Chung's name before. Despite being able count First Lady Michelle Obama as a fan and client, she still considers herself a “very small, very young” niche designer without a ton of name recognition. But that should change come February 15, when her capsule collection for Macy’s Impulse hits 185 stores and goes up online. She adds her name to Macy's already star-studded list of collaborators – Karl Lagerfeld and Giambattista Valli among them. For a peek behind the scenes of her new collection, check out the video!
"It was kind of a no-brainer," Chung told Fashionista just before the press preview of her new collection last Tuesday. "The fact that we’d have such an accessibility to Middle America – to places we don’t really sell our collection, and that Karl Lagerfeld was another designer that was on board, I mean, it seemed like a win-win situation." We'd have to agree.
So if you're not familiar with Doo-Ri Chung's designs, here's what you'll get with her new Impulse line: Beautifully draped jersey dresses (that is her signature – she trained with the master, Geoffrey Beene) that flatter every figure (trust us here), an artistic print splashed over a trench to add a little flare to your outerwear, and the look we're coveting most – equestrian-inspired leggings paired with an awesome little bomber jacket. Style and comfort people, you can't do better than that. Oh wait, you can.
Prices range from just $39 to $159. Available starting February 15, mark it down.
