Are you one of the lucky few who’ll be jetting off to a tropical destination this holiday? If so, let’s get a couple of things straight: First off, we are extremely jealous. Second, we want to help you pack! Because really, what could be more fun than tossing your wooly sweaters aside and filling up a suitcase with swimsuits, flip-flops, a maxi dress and next to nothing else? Read on to find out our top picks for the hottest resort wear looks...

Fashio_02_184x256.jpgTropic-Ready Tunics

When we think of tunics, we picture the fabulous 60’s model, Talitha Getty, galavanting about Marrakesh. These loose, warm weather-ready tops are super versatile when it comes to vacationing. Wear them as a beach cover-up, over a maxi-skirt for dinner, or with shorts while scoping out the sites. The right one can even work as pajamas! To keep your tunic current, opt for one with glam sequins and a delicious tie dye pattern (built-in jewelry!) or lovely and delicate embroidery. Pair with white jeans for instant chic.

Pretty Patterns

There’s no occasion like a beach rendezvous to leave your basic city black at home and proudly bust out some bold, beautiful prints. While florals are a vacay mainstay, go fashion forward with a blousy kimono-sleeved ikat top or a sorbet-hued color-blocked shift. If you’re having trouble getting out of your comfort zone, go with this striped one-shoulder asymmetrical dress. It’s subtle, yet totally fierce, and will flaunt any new found sun-kissed color.

Why not go literal and rock some sailor stripes while on your ocean-side jaunt? Navy and white nautical stripes are appropriate for any outting and match just about anything. Feeling sassy? Glam it up with sequins or go extra girly with a pink motif.

Bold Bikinis

A beach vacation isn’t complete without a bathing suit. This season, leave the plain bikini at home and go all out with prints and graphics. Shake things up with a gold-tinged reef patterned halter bikini or revisit sailor stripes with this nautical tankini piped with electric aqua blue. If it was up to us, we would just go all out with this multi-color, graphic striped and crocheted number. The lesson here, ladies? It’s time for your suit to come out of its shell!

Stunning Sunnies

Along with a lot of SPF, you’re going to need a great pair of sunglasses, too, and it’s all about color, color, color. Unleash your inner hipster with baby blue or algae green Ray-Bans, hide from the paparazzi in Kool-Aid purple or marbled lipstick red oversize shades or just let your color flag fly with these bright colored patterns. Either way, your eyes are sure to get lots of looks!

Fabulous Footwear

Don’t get us wrong. We love our flip-flops, but there’s a time and place for everything. (i.e. the pool) Just because you may be going laid-back doesn’t mean you should necessarily leave the luxe factor behind. For dinner, instead of your everyday rubber thongs, try working a pair of flat & strappy leather sandals in a super bright hue. Think red, aqua or yellow gladiators with metallic disc embellishments, a gold-braided coral Grecian-style number or a punked-out pair made of red crochet. (Crochet again? Yep, it’s a mega trend for Spring so we advise stocking up now.)

The one shoulder dress by Rachel Roy is stunning! Definitly calls for a strapless (maybe even backless) bra! Macys has the best bra options from Nubra to the Go Bare Backless Strapless!

Happy Holidays

P.S. here is a helpful video on the NuBra!
