Maybe it was Gwyneth in her Tom Ford confection at the 2012 Oscars or all of that “equestrian-chic” we’ve been seeing on TV, but the cape is our #1 pick. Not the athletic type? Don’t dismiss this style so quickly…. This sporty standby has a new attitude! Leaner, sleeker and more flattering than ever before, 2012’s parkas are as chic as can be. Toss one on over a pretty, floral printed dress (with tights, of course!) for a cool-girl vibe – but leave the ski boots behind.

Borrowed from the boys, this time-honored piece is – ironically – very ladylike when done in softer shades of gray, brown or pink. Feminine and functional, it’s the perfect final layer to your most alluring date-night look!
