Nothing like a tall glass of Kool-Aid served from a giant anthropomorphic pitcher to reallymake you feel like a kid! So, this August 10-12, grab some of Nebraska’s official soft drink and celebrate with these fun-for-the-whole fam activities for National Kool-Aid Days!

Pickle Painting
Tart & tasty, pickles are already a refreshing Summer treat. But why not make them fun & fluorescent, too? All you need is one-gallon jar of pickles, a packet of unsweetened Kool-Aid and a pound of sugar. Drain the pickle juice into mixing bowl, add other ingredients, wait until it’s dissolved then pour the liquid back in the jar with your dill. Refrigerate for a week and Voilà!

Tie Dye Tees

Too many of us at Food Republic tried that whole dye your hair with a Kool-Aid packet thing to ever wish those terrible tresses upon anyone else! But our fave way to DIY with the brand? Tie-dyed tees! Here’s the how-to:

  1. In individual bowls add a packet of Kool-Aid and one ounce of Vinegar
  2. Twist the shirt and tie with rubber bands
  3. Dip into the bowls as desired
  4. When finished, use an iron to set the colors

Deep Fried Kool-Aid Balls
As the newest entry in the deep-frying trend that’s sweeping across the nation, try this invention (created by Charlie Boghosian at the San Diego County Fair) at home.  Add Kool-Aid mix to a batter of flour and water and fry away!

Super Bright Slushies

Kick it up a notch by pouring your mix in the blender with ice. Try adding yogurt or fresh fruit for a sweet & slushy smoothie! Over 21? Add a splash of other delicious liquids... “Oh, yeah!”
