Embracing the theme of Punk and calling out Debbie Harry as her inspiration for the evening, Anne Hathaway was everything at the 2013 Met Ball! With her platinum 'do and proven pipes, I'm sure she could be the next Blondie if she wanted ... But let's just focus on how to get her major look for now.
I love a good red carpet, and the 70th Annual Golden Globes surely delivered. Jennifer Lawrence & Claire Danes not only walked away winners, they looked gorgeous, glamorous, and effortlessly beautiful while doing so. Want to recreate the looks of these red hot beauties at home? Read on...
Having just come off NYFW for spring 2013, it's a little challenging for me to know what season I'm in at the moment. However, by the crisp morning air, my daily Pumpkin Spice Latte, and the urge to wear boots instead of sandals, I can tell that it's definitely fall. It's also Beauty Scene at Macy's, which means I can finally tell you about the amazing looks I created just for this event!
It takes a village, so don't think I did this alone. Based on my top beauty trends post, I came up with different runway looks that you could re-create at home. Then in May I joined the most amazing team of beauty pros on set, including Makeup Artist extraordinaire Paul Fields, Genevieve (Vivi) Lapidus, and Celeb Manicurist Gina Edwards to bring these looks to life. Now we've all got some inspiration to help us look gorgeous straight through the season. This first look I LOVE ... It's called Rock it Out, and I hope that's exactly what you do!
As far as makeup looks go, I kind of covet an "it girl" messy smoky eye a la Nicole Richie, Kate Moss, and Rachel Roy. In fact, I remember reading a magazine article once that talked about getting this sexy look by simply sleeping in your makeup. They showed a model with perfectly disheveled hair and smudgy shadow that looked effortlessly cool. Who wouldn't want to wake up looking like that, right? So I tried it, and the results, not so pretty. I woke up looking like more of a makeup meltdown with cray hair. Disappointed. So that you never have to go through this sleep study yourself, I decided to take on an extra FNO assignment. Between working the red carpet, hanging with the Bachelorette, Emily Maynard, and catching a pop-in visit by the one and only Anna Wintour, I called on a few of my makeup artist friends to tell me exactly what products they would use to get Nicole Richie's rockstar look. You ready?
Anyone can load on the black liner and call it a smoky eye, but the trick to getting a celeb-worthy smoky effect is all in how you layer on the color. Here are my tips to help you master this moody look in time for the holidays!
