Tress tamer Orlando Pita & T3 teamed up again this NYFW creating some of the hottest hair looks to walk the runway! One trend I'll be taking to heart - hair with a messy, sexy, slightly un-done texture. I call it Olsen Twins style, but backstage at Derek Lam's F/W 13 Show the 'do was dubbed Bohemian Minimalism. Call it what you will, I like! And here's a video of Pita himself walking through the steps so we can all rock boho locks right now.
It's inevitable, as Fashion Week comes to a close in NYC I find myself torn between two seasons. Fall, fur, covetable fashion and brooding pouts are all top of mind for obvious reasons, yet the pretty pastels and neon pops that are so 'right now' have me longing for Spring. And then it hit me ... Why choose?!?! There must be a way to curb seasonal struggles with beauty trends that can be worn now & later, right? Right.
Fresh from backstage and straight off the New York Fashion Week (NYFW)Fall/Winter Runways, here are 3 trends to start wearing now straight through 2013...
Being "glossy eyed" has always conjured up images of a sleepy stare and glassed-over gaze, but after making the rounds at F/W12 New York Fashion Week my views changed. Bobbi Brown literally "glossed" over the eyes at Rachel Roy using lip gloss. You should not use lip gloss on your eyes however. Instead, here's a step-by-step for adding a little shine to your season with eye gloss!
I look forward to New York Fashion Week for many reasons, and interacting with Lancome Makeup Artist Daniel Martin is very high on that list! Maybe it's his calm demeanor in the midst of backstage madness or the fact that I always know he'll have some type of fab story or makeup trickery to share. Whatever the reason, Daniel has quickly become and remains one of the pros I most look forward to bumping into backstage, and this season was no exception. Additionally, I had the pleasure of meeting Darais, Lancome's National Makeup Artist for the first time. Charming, seriously skilled with a makeup brush, and plenty of tatts, rings, and quirky-cute style to boot! Together, this team created looks we'll all turn to for inspiration this spring, or when we need to capture a Japanese wood-nymph meets Tiny Tim look. Don't judge so soon ... You really never know!
Having just come off NYFW for spring 2013, it's a little challenging for me to know what season I'm in at the moment. However, by the crisp morning air, my daily Pumpkin Spice Latte, and the urge to wear boots instead of sandals, I can tell that it's definitely fall. It's also Beauty Scene at Macy's, which means I can finally tell you about the amazing looks I created just for this event!
It takes a village, so don't think I did this alone. Based on my top beauty trends post, I came up with different runway looks that you could re-create at home. Then in May I joined the most amazing team of beauty pros on set, including Makeup Artist extraordinaire Paul Fields, Genevieve (Vivi) Lapidus, and Celeb Manicurist Gina Edwards to bring these looks to life. Now we've all got some inspiration to help us look gorgeous straight through the season. This first look I LOVE ... It's called Rock it Out, and I hope that's exactly what you do!
