Sure, nail art's all the rage, but when you have trouble staying in the lines with a single coat it sounds pretty intimidating. While I was going through NYFW pics I found this look, and I'm hoping it's something even the non-nail enthusiasts can recreate and enjoy!
butter LONDON's Global Colour Ambassador Katie Hughes created true nail art Monday night, using delicate lace and stones from Emmy Rossum's Met Ball gown to embellish her tips. The design, while gorgeous, also happened to be the most original beauty tribute to the Met's "Punk: Chaos to Couture" theme that I saw. Here's why ... I expected loads of black liner, dark nails and lips, and even something like SJP's mohawk. That's all great, but punk style was built around DIY fashion, artistic expression, and using unconventional materials in new ways. The fab Katie Hughes managed to capture all that with one killer manicure (on nude nails no less) - it's brilliant! More important, here's how you can make the look your own.
"Pink is Punk" was clearly the inspiration behind Gwyneth Paltrow's hot pink Valentino Met Ball gown! And while the dress paid homage to punk, the star's hair and makeup were inspired by the glamour of Hollywood legend Grace Kelly.
Embracing the theme of Punk and calling out Debbie Harry as her inspiration for the evening, Anne Hathaway was everything at the 2013 Met Ball! With her platinum 'do and proven pipes, I'm sure she could be the next Blondie if she wanted ... But let's just focus on how to get her major look for now.
Tress tamer Orlando Pita & T3 teamed up again this NYFW creating some of the hottest hair looks to walk the runway! One trend I'll be taking to heart - hair with a messy, sexy, slightly un-done texture. I call it Olsen Twins style, but backstage at Derek Lam's F/W 13 Show the 'do was dubbed Bohemian Minimalism. Call it what you will, I like! And here's a video of Pita himself walking through the steps so we can all rock boho locks right now.
