Madonna made an appearance last night at Macy's Herald Square for the launch of her new fragrance Truth or Dare. Before a Q&A session with some of her biggest fans, the music icon made her way down the red carpet in elegantly edgy style, pairing a lace-covered Dolce & Gabbana dress with pave set skull hoops. And of course she was rocking my personal fave accessory - her always flawless, feline-inspired black liner. Do you dance better with heels or flats?
Depends on the style. When I did the Super Bowl, the dance that LMFAO did with me, the Shuffle, is really hard to do in heels. I would have to say I prefer to do something like the Shuffle in sneakers. It really depends. I mean, if you want to drop it like it's hot, it's good to wear flats because you can get it really close to the floor. But then there are things you can do in heels that you can't do in sneakers, and you know what I'm talking about.
If you were going to choose one song from your catalog that best summarizes your most fundamental artistic message, which would it be?
[Thinking ... Someone yells Veronica ... kind of frowns and shakes her head no. Someone else yells Express Yourself.] Yeah, that's good. Express Yourself. Don't go for second best baby!

What are you addicted to?
Hmmmm, that's a good one. Love. Yeah, big love.
If you could pick one place to live, only one place, where would it be?
New York baby! Wahoo! [breaks into song.] I love New York ...
Scent creates such a strong memory. You said this scent is based on your mother. Is there a particular memory of your mother that inspired this fragrance?
Well, my mother was always wearing Fracas, and I remember her smell. Particularly, when I would wake up early in the morning, I would come into my parent's bedroom and try to sneak in between my mom and dad to have a couple hours of quality time. My mom always smelled of gardenias and tuberose, so I wanted to create a fragrance that reminded me of her.
Why did you take off your beauty mark?
I didn't. It just faded over time. I made it darker with a black pencil ... In case you didn't know. I can make it come back!
What is the secret to being a successful recording artist for so many years?
Loving what I do. I love it. I love making music. Music is everything.
What are your fears?
My fear is not knowing things. Not being in control. Not knowing what lies ahead. Also, meeting people who are ignorant and prejudice and judgmental. I fear that.
Well, I learned to ski this year, and that was the most brilliant experience and my children got really good at snowboarding. I was very jealous of them, so that's my next goal in life. i wasn't to learn how to snowboard. I hope there aren't paparazzi there to catch me falling on my a-- every two seconds.
How many shoes do you own and how uncomfortable were the boots you wore at the Super Bowl? You looked awesome by the way.
I have no idea how many shoes I have, but I'm lucky to have many. And the shoes I was wearing at the Super Bowl were actually comfortable. They were just really hard to put on. It was like a three man job.
What impresses you most about your fans?
Their loyalty. I do not take it for granted. Thank you!
