How do you do a "nude lip"?

Okay, I love the smokey eye look, but sometimes that with a lipstick, well, the combo is too much. I am  pondering the whole "nude lip" thing. Anyone have ideas/brands/lipstcks to do that?

Re: How do you do a "nude lip"?

Hey Heather. Great question, and I totally understand your hesitation with the "nude" lip. I'm more of a bright lip girl myself, but there are definitely times when a bare pout is best. Here are several suggestions of my own go-to nudes and links to some nude lip looks for you to check out. Hopefully there's something here you like!

I'm starting with my super low-maintenance solution - gloss sticks! They're easy to carry and the perfect compromise between a gloss and lipstick. I like Urban Decay Super Saturated Gloss in Naked. And since trying them, I've become semi-obsessed with all the new shades of Clinique Chubby Stick Intense, but Curviest Caramel is a great nude. I also love that you don't actually have to sharpen the Chubby Stick, you just turn the end like my old-school Lip Smackers!

For lipstick, I would def recommend checking out Bobbi Brown Lip Color. Having one perfect go-to lip color that matches the natural tone of your lips is part of Bobbi's makeup philosophy, so she offers an amazing range of pinky-brown shades. My shade is Sandwash Pink, but Brown is one of her original 10 lip colors and works for every skin tone. I have not tired the shades in the new Dior Rouge Nude line, but I really love the feel and finish of Dior Lip Color, so I'd recommend checking these out as well.

Now for some looks!

  • Here's a link to my Bobbi Brown Pretty Powerful Makeover, where you can see what Sandwash Pink, etc. looks like. Pardon my before pic!:smileywink:
  • With this fall look, I wanted more of an opaque anti-lip look. You can also experiment with something like this by using your concealer to blend out your lip color.
  • Last but not least, since nude is a huge trend for Spring, you can also try something like a Stila Convertible Color. Check out these looks from NYFW and see if there's anything you like.

Ha ... Now that I've typed this all out, I should have just written a nude lip blog post. Hope it's helpful!
